Cultural Odyssey has been a pioneer of change in the arts and in society for over twenty-five years. Founded in 1979 by Idris Ackamoor and joined in 1983 by Co-Artistic Director Rhodessa Jones, the company continues to develop original works that demonstrates their vision of Arts as Social Activism. These performances have toured the world, building artistic, cultural and political bridges on four continents and have come home to the San Francisco Bay Area communities where they complement the variety of community programming we offer locally. Groups we serve directly through our performances, classes and outreach include:

• youth
• incarcerated women
• ex-offenders
• African Americans
• minority cultures
• emerging artists
• survivors of domestic violence
• audiences of all backgrounds

We are in a wonderful position to create challenging new performance works that build community through the arts. Our work benefits a multi-cultural audience and explores the many ways performance can improve community. Your support will make our programs a continuing, growing reality.
